The SPCA is always in need of good volunteers who can help provide care and love to the animals. There are many different ways you can provide help to the SPCA. Some of those are listed below. If you would like to become an SPCA Volunteer, please call us at (540) 885-SPCA(7722) or email us at volunteernow@ntelos.net You must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer at the shelter. We also request that each volunteer be prepared to offer an average of 8 hours per month, or two hours per week. If you are volunteering for special events, such as our rummage sale, the Howlin' Hoedown, or Pets in the Park only, you will not be held to this requirement. We provide training and support to our volunteers through our Volunteer Coordinator. If you have a child under the age of 16 who wants to volunteer and is prepared to meet the 8 hour per month requirement, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at the email listed above. Volunteers under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied at all times by an adult over the age of 21 years who has also completed our Volunteer orientation training class. Volunteers under the age of 16 years are restricted from certain tasks and activities. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH * Dog walking * Cleaning Cat Cages * Socializing the animals * Pet Therapy Visitation at area nursing homes *Public Awareness Program *Fostering animals * Cleaning the front lobby and the offices * Sewing Beds and Bandannas *Hosting Pet Outings and "Meet & Greets" in the community * Helping staff the SPCA Benefit Shop at 409 W. Beverly Street *Helping with fund-raising events |
