Adopting a Pet from Us

The adoption fees are as follows: $50.00 for dogs and cats. If an animal
is not already spayed or neutered, $25.00 will be credited toward the
spay/neuter surgery cost which is the responsibility of the adopter. In
addition to the adoption fee, you should expect to spend a minimum of
$100.00 in health costs during the first six months you own the animal.

Required Health Costs Include:

* Distemper Vaccinations
* The rabies vaccines at 4 months of age
* Spaying/Neutering the animal no later than the date set in the
contract

Spay/Neuter

Each year, US shelters euthanize over 10 million homeless dogs and
cats. This number doesn't begin to include those that die painful and
lonely deaths by starvation, gunshots, poison, automobiles, andmany
other dangers and methods of cruelty.

The only way to prevent this waste of life is for responsible owners to
spay and neuter their pets. Spaying removes the ovaries and the
uterus. Neutering removes the testicles. Spaying or neutering your pet
is the most reliable prevention for many health problems such as
infections, cancers, tumors, and difficult births. Many behavioral
problems such as spraying, territorial urine marking, roaming,
irritability, and aggressiveness are eliminated or reduced by spaying
or neutering.

Things to Consider before Choosing to Adopt:

* Most importantly, proper pet care is a long term commitment that is
similar to adopting a child. The animal will require time, patience,
love and financial support.
*
If you live with other people, discuss your decision to adopt a pet with
them before taking an animal home. This will help ensure a good
match.
*
If you rent, MAKE SURE your lease allows pets of the size and type
you are considering. Check for additional rent and deposits that may
be needed.
*
If you have other pets at home, be prepared to take extra time and
patience when introducing the new companion. We recommend that
you keep the new animal isolated from the others until you have had
the new animal examined by your vet. Once the introduction is
complete, make sure to give all pets lots of attention and love.
